The Movers and Shakers Community fund is a new fund for local people from Amber Valley. So far, we have distributed a total of £30,000 to 36 individual projects in the borough.

Whittling in the Woods
Shining Cliff Woods
Whittling in the woods is an idea to organise, promote and deliver Forest School activities for adults in Shining Cliff Woods. These sessions support wellbeing by helping people feel happier and more connected through simple woodland activities such as learning about trees, lighting fires, boiling a kettle and sharing hot drinks. .
Aldercar & Langley Friends
Aldercar & Langley Mill
An online social and friendship group based in Langley Mill & Aldercar. Designed to assist locals in getting together using local businesses & self-led activities to form social connection & help boost mental health.
Infinite Youth Craft

Youth craft session open to anyone in year 6 to year 11 where they will create products to be sold at the Mundy Junior School Horticultural show in June 2026. The youth will lead the development of future sessions and the products they create.
Nature Shift

Nature/Shift will encourage local residents to engage with free, creative writing activities taking place in green spaces on their doorstep, promoting good mental health & physical wellbeing & encouraging repeat visitation of these spaces.

Imprint is a series of printmaking workshops inspired by local memories and personal stories. Introducing different techniques with a focus on printing with everyday objects, plus practical tips for great results.
Sewing the Seasons
South Wingfield
This project teaches participants how to incorporate materials from the natural world using a range of embroidery techniques. It provides examples of finished work and guides participants through the process, emphasising the creative experience and the value of the experience in the moment rather than the perfect product.

Felt and flow is a beginner friendly mixed media felting and mark making workshop designed to spark curiosity, build confidence & encourage personal expression through colour texture and movement.
The Plot Community Garden

We grow fresh food; we give it to ‘Hope for Belper’ food bank users who need it. Good for people; good for the planet; good for the community. The project views itself as inseparable from its environment and aims to be self-sustaining in water use and soil fertility, while producing a wide range of fresh, nutritious food for people with limited access to it.
